South Bay Youth Rugby – Home of the SPARTANS Located in Southern California & founded in 2007, the South Bay Youth Rugby club, also known as SBYR, has grown significantly since then. From a mere three divisions and 25 players, to last year’s end count at 66 players to this season at 106 active players from ages 5 to 16 years old with now five divisions starting at with the U8s on up to the U16s in this, it’s third year. But the Hurricanes star is hoping to break the cycle by taking an anti-domestic violence message back to his homeland. New Zealand has been bundled out of the Wellington Sevens after suffering a shock 14-24 loss to Samoa in the Cup semi-finals. Uale Mai scored a hat-trick as Samoa outscored the home side by four tries to two. New Zealand’s defence had been so strong coming into the match but it slipped off too many tackles early in the game and was made to pay the price. February 13 & 14 will mark the 4th competition of the IRB Sevens Series, which is the largest competitive Rugby match in the world.  The Manu Samoa squad that has faithfully participated in various international rugby events will also be in Las Vegas to play during this installment of the series. Samoa Sevens star Lolo Lui will not be part the national team taking part in the International Sevens at the Suva Rugby Festival next week. Samoa Rugby Union official Peter Schuster said Lolo Lui is still recovering from a back injury suffered in George on the second leg of the IRB Sevens World Series. Lui is still a doubt for the next leg of the World Series in Wellington (5-6 Feb).
